On March 20, with the blessing of the head of the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate, under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Ilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, the first session of the Committee on Preparation of Alterations and Addenda to the Statutes of Government of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held.
On March 20, with the blessing of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Ilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, the first session of the Committee on Preparation of Alterations and Addenda to the Statutes of Government of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (wording of 2007) was held in the Kyiv Cave Monastery, the website of the UOC-MP reported.
The committee considered organizational questions and set up a Secretariat including the Secretary, Bishop Oleksii of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Rector of the Pochaiv Spiritual Seminary, Archimandrite Nafanail (Krykota) and head of the Legal Department of the Kyiv Metropolitanate, Valentyn Volynets. The members of the committee also exchanged ideas regarding the current Statutes of Government of UOC and fixed the date (April 26) of the next session of the committee.
After the session, the members of the committee led by Metropolitan Ilarion visited Metropolitan Volodymyr in the hospital and reported to him on the results of the activity of the committee.
The Committee on Preparation of Alterations and Addenda to the Statutes of Government of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (wording of 2007) was set up by a decision of the Council of Bishops of UOC on July 8, 2011. The composition of the committee was approved by the decision of the Synod of the UOC of January 26, 2012.
