UOC-MP Intends to Open a Residence of the Kyiv Cave Monastery in Moscow

Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) intends to open a residence (representation) of the Kyiv Cave Monastery in Moscow.

KYIV – The Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) intends to open a residence (representation) of the Kyiv Cave Monastery in Moscow, reported the head of the Synodal Information and Education Department of the UOC-MP, Protopriest Heorhii Kovalenko, at an internet press conference of Observer, reports proua.com.  

Kovalenko reminded that in the past there were representations of the Kyiv Cave Monastery in Moscow and St. Petersburg and the renewal of one in Moscow will be a significant event.

According to him, representations of churches fulfill similar a function to that of secular embassies.

At the same time, he refuted information about the intention of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow to establish a residence in Kyiv but expressed an opinion that opening a representation of the Russian Orthodox Church could have a positive effect on the status of the Ukrainian Church.
