The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has collected irrefutable evidence of the guilt of the head of the UOC-MP diocese in the Vinnytsia region, who publicly justified Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.
Censor.net reports this with reference to the SBU Telegram channel.
"According to the investigation materials, the person involved distributed propaganda leaflets among believers, where he called for the seizure of power and changing the borders of the state border of Ukraine.
Also, on one of the websites, the Russian Orthodox Church posted publications in support of the Russian occupiers and their war crimes,"
During a search of the Metropolitan's place of residence and religious buildings, law enforcement officers found computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of criminal actions, pro-Kremlin propaganda and literature.
An expert examination of the seized materials initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the bishop's illegal activities. The indictment was submitted to the court. According to the materials of the SBU, the Metropolitan faces a real sentence of up to 8 years in prison.
The actions of the person involved are qualified under four articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Part 2 of Article 109 (actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power);
Part 1 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
Part 2 of Article 161 (violation of equal rights of citizens depending on their race, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds);
Part 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
