UOC-MP Promotes Introduction of Christian Ethics Lessons in Ukraine's Schools

The Synod Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate on matters of education forwarded a letter to the Ministry of Education with the request to promote the further introduction such subjects as Bible History and Christian Ethics and Basics of Christian Ethics and Christian Ethics in Ukrainian Culture in general education institutions.

The Basics of Christian Ethics and Christian Ethics in Ukrainian Culture are currently taught in 30% of the Ukrainian schools. The number of such schools has increased by 10% this year, Religion in Ukraine reported.

According to the information of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the teaching of Christian ethics has not spread widely in such regions as Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv Oblasts.

In view of the above, the Synod Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate on matters of education forwarded a letter to the Ministry of Education with the request to promote the further introduction such subjects as Bible History and Christian Ethics and Basics of Christian Ethics and Christian Ethics in Ukrainian Culture in general education institutions, especially by way of informing the parents, who are faithful of UOC-MP, of their rights through the church.
