UOC-MP representatives sprayed pepper gas during the OCU worship
On November 1, in the villages of Stara Zhadova and Mykhalcha in the Storozhynets district of Bukovyna, representatives of religious communities made their decision regarding the continued use of the disputed religious buildings.
According to Molody Bukovynets, in the village of Stara Zhadova representatives of the OCU and UOC MP achieved peaceful negotiations.
But in Mykhalcha, the police had to engage additional resources to ensure law and order.
Journalist Halyna Yeremitsa posted a video of a group of people trying to break into a church during the worship and spraying tear gas.
She noted that the priests of the OCU and the faithful of the Church of the Assumption of the Theotokos of the Orthodox Church of the Mykhalcha village held an evening service. At 9.30 pm, a group of supporters of the Moscow Patriarchate tried to disrupt the worship with tear gas.
According to the police of Chernivtsi, all events were recorded by the preventive communication team. Law enforcement officers separated members of different religious communities and clarified responsibility for public order violations.
The police also registered two messages related to incidents during the gathering of believers.
Each appeal was registered in the system of unified reporting of the NPU, the police check the information received.
