16 June, 14:08

The United States condemned the recent Russian strike on Kyiv, which resulted in damage to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Officials in Washington reiterated that attacks on civilian targets and religious sites are unacceptable and must cease immediately.

Julie S. Davis, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine, stated that she visited the site of the attack, as reported by Channel 24. She observed the devastation at one of Ukraine’s most significant historical and spiritual landmarks.

Davis emphasized that the strikes not only impacted cultural heritage but also affected the city's civilian infrastructure.

"There were attacks on residential buildings that resulted in the hospitalization of both adults and children. Attacks against civilians and Christian holy sites are unacceptable. This horrific violence must end, and the war must be brought to a close," she stated.
