On 20 January, in the Church of St. Basil the Great in Kyiv, the 46th Week of Prayer for Christian Unity began. Traditionally it is held on 18-25 January. The ecumenical prayer was led by the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), Patriarch Sviatoslav, jointly with Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine Archbishop Thomas Edward Gullickson.

The joint prayer was attended by the clergymen of the UGCC, Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox and Protestant Churches. In particular, Patriarch Sviatoslav greeted a delegation of the Ukrainian Eparchy of the Armenian Apostolic Church led by its head, Archbishop Grygoris (Buniatian). Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Archbishop Thomas Edward Gullickson addressed the participants.
