Vasyl Losten, Bishop Emeritus of the UGCC Diocese of Stamford, turns 90 this day

On May 11, Bishop Vasyl Losten, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Stamford, celebrates his 90th birthday. On this occasion, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church congratulated Bishop Vasyl with a Patriarchal certificate.

On May 11, Bishop Vasyl Losten, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Stamford, celebrates his 90th birthday. On this occasion, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church congratulated Bishop Vasyl with a Patriarchal certificate. This is reported by the UGCC Information Department.

"On behalf of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and my behalf, I wish to sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of the great anniversary. Your 90th birthday is a great event for all of us. Together with you, we bring our prayers to the throne of the Almighty, praising Him for calling you to the path of sacrificial dedication to the Church and the native people," the text of the greeting reads.

Bishop Vasyl became a good father for people in the lands of distant America, a zealous preacher of Christ's truth, and a defender of their rights and freedoms. As a zealous follower of Patriarch Iosyp, the Bishop was implementing the Patriarchal structure. The Bishop has made many efforts to develop the Seminary in Stamford, which has released many of our most respected clergymen. He took and continues to take an active part in the activities of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC.

"All this testifies to you as a person of great faith and deep wisdom. Therefore, we once again congratulate you and wish you the help of the Holy Spirit in all your endeavors for the glory of God and the good of the Church and the people," His Beatitude Sviatoslav's message reads.

"May the merciful Lord reward you hundredfold with his grace. Let him accept the gift of your service as a pleasing sacrifice to His Throne, and send you his generous blessing from the heights through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos and all the saints of the Ukrainian land. I wish you to continue to be a clear light of God's truth for our people and all the people among whom you live. May all the time that the Lord will grant to you be blessed and peaceful for you," the head of the UGCC wished.

Vladyka Vasyl Losten was born on May 11, 1930, in the city of Chesapeake (Maryland, USA). His priestly ordination took place on June 10, 1957. The consecrator: His Eminence Konstiantyn Bohachevsky, Metropolitan of Philadelphia.

May 25, 1971, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Philadelphia (USA) Fr. Vasyl became a Bishop.
