The imposition of martial law in Ukraine will not prevent the Unification Council from taking place, which is necessary for the establishment of the Ukrainian Local Orthodox Church. This was announced by the Parliament Speaker, Andriy Parubiy.

“Russia tries to obstruct the creation of the Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church. I call on Patriarch Bartholomew to hold the Council in Kyiv as soon as possible, and we will ensure the security of this Council,” he said. This was reported by Hromadske.

Speaker of the Parliament Andriy Parubiy signed a bill passed on November 26, which enacts the presidential decree on the martial law in Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Parubiy signed the bill on November 28. Now it will be sent to Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko. Once the President signs the bill, martial law will be formally imposed in 10 regions of Ukraine.
