Vice Prime Minster for Humanitarian Affars and Minister of Health Care Raisa Bohatyriova considers the prohibition of abortions inexpedient.

Vice Prime Minster for Humanitarian Affars and Minister of Health Care Raisa Bohatyriova considers the prohibition of abortions inexpedient.

“Is it necessary to prohibit abortions? Before 1953 we had an experience in the USSR when such operations were prohibited and people were severely punished for them. And the statistics then were awful. Death of young women, criminal interventions,” ТSN quoted Bohatyriova as saying.

She noted that we are not very different now from what we were like in 1953, and that people will find ways to do what they consider necessary and will find persons rendering such services.

According to the prime minister, the transfer of such operations underground will not result in anything good.
