Violation of the rights of journalists near the Lavra: The police institutes a case

Kyiv police have instituted criminal proceedings on violation of the rights of journalists in performing their professional duties near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda with reference to the press service of the Kyiv police.

"The capital's investigators have opened criminal proceedings on the fact of obstructing journalistic activities," the police said.

Law enforcement officers promised to find out all the circumstances of what happened on March 30.

On the morning of March 30, the Ministry of Culture's commission, which was supposed to conduct an inventory of the property of the Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve, was prevented from entering the monastery by parishioners of the UOC-MP.

The superior of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavlo of the UOC-MP, surrounded by supporters, threatened journalists with beatings and obstructed their activities.

National Union of journalists reported numerous violations of the rights of journalists to work near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
