X Ecumenical Social Week starts in Kyiv with prayer

On June 7, the Ecumenical Social Week started its work in Kyiv. This year there is a forum on the theme: "Dignity. Service. Solidarity: Towards renewal of the country. "

This morning the event was opened at the solemn prayer service in St. Alexander Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church in Kyiv. Bishop Boris (Gudziak), Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr of the Roman Catholic Church Vitaly Skomarovsky, Apostolic Nuncio Claudio Gugerotti prayed for peace in Ukraine, Ukrainian soldiers, war-affected and displaced displaces persons. The Nuncio said a welcoming speech to all participants.

 

Recall that the opening academic ceremony was scheduled for 13:30 at the Kyiv National University of Shevchenko. The event organizer is the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University. The Forum will continue till June 9. A detailed program can be found here.

 

Previously the ECT took place in Lviv. This time it is held in the capital of Ukraine for the first time.
