Yanukovych marks 450th anniversary of Peresopnytsia Gospels

Events marking the 450th anniversary of the Peresopnytsia Gospels, one of the first Ukrainian texts, are taking place in the village of Peresopnytsia in Rivne region on Monday.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the Peresopnytsia archaeological complex, which was built with the assistance of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, had been unveiled as part of the celebrations on Monday.

The head of state is participating in the events.

Earlier, about 20 representatives of the Svoboda Party picketed the highway where the presidential motorcade was en route from Rivne to the village of Peresopnytsia. Before the entrance to the archaeological complex, they chanted "Shame!" and "Away with Tabachnyk!" Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sport Dmytro Tabachnyk is also participating in the celebrations.
