Yanukovych Wishes Ukrainians Love and Unity on Occasion of Easter

"The Resurrection of Christ unites us in faith, hope and love, faith in peace and self-reliance, in hope that life will change for the better. God Bless our homeland so that Ukraine will live in love and unity," reads the president's holiday greeting.

President Viktor Yanukovych wishes Ukrainians love and unity on the occasion of Easter, the presidential press service reports.

"The Resurrection of Christ unites us in faith, hope and love, faith in peace and self-reliance, in hope that life will change for the better. God Bless our homeland so that Ukraine will live in love and unity," reads the president's holiday greeting.

Easter is a symbol of purification and the victory of life, the president said.

"God Bless us and support in all good endeavors, and give each family welfare, peace and harmony. Christ is Risen!" the president said in the message.

Yanukovych attended an Easter service in Kyiv Cave Monastery, according to the presidential press service.

Along with him were Serhii Liovochkin, head of the presidential administration, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Verkhovna Rada deputies, government officials, Anatolii Prysiazhniuk, head of Kyiv regional state administration, Oleksandr Popov, head of Kyiv city state administration, and believers.

Yanukovych took part in the religious procession around the Holy Assumption Cathedral at the beginning of the liturgy service held by primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) Metropolitan Volodymyr.
