Yermak praised constructive relations between Ukraine and the Vatican
The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, conveyed this during a conversation with journalists, as reported by Ukrinform.
Yermak underscored that Ukraine does not require mediation with the Russian Federation but appreciates the Vatican's readiness to assist in addressing humanitarian concerns, notably in facilitating the return of prisoners and deported children to Russia.
The head of the President's Office reminded that in early June, Papal Nuncio Cardinal Matteo Zuppi visited Ukraine and discussed humanitarian cooperation between the countries with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Afterwards, Zuppi visited Russia, and according to Yermak, the Papal Nuncio stated that the Vatican is ready to assist Ukraine in returning prisoners and deported children.
"Today, we have constructive relations (with the Vatican - ed.)," Yermak summarized.
As previously reported, the Pope stated that the Vatican is participating in a so-called peacekeeping mission to try to put an end to Russia's war against Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Vatican in May and met with the Pope. They discussed, among other things, the Ukrainian Formula for Peace.
