According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in the Vatican strengthened relations between the two leaders.

The head of state announced this in an interview with ABC News, reports Ukrinform.

“Fifteen minutes in the Vatican, face-to-face, were more impactful than a meeting with a large group of people in the Oval Office,” Zelensky stated.

He acknowledged that he does not communicate with Trump often enough to comment on their personal relationship.

“I would like to believe that we have a normal professional relationship. However, I don't have enough contact with President Trump to accurately describe our personal relationship,” the Ukrainian president remarked.

Zelensky also mentioned that various individuals communicate with Trump, conveying information that may or may not align with his views. “I would argue with some of the details,” he added.

“It seems to me that when you are the president during a war, you possess a deeper understanding of certain things,” he continued.

As reported, on April 26, prior to the funeral of Pope Francis, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a brief meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Rome. The White House stated that President Trump had a “very productive discussion” with President Zelensky.
