Every year, tens of thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year.

During this period, the Migration Service operates in an enhanced mode, reports the media outlet Vicca with reference to the press service of the HMS Department in the Cherkasy region.

The head of the Department, Ivan Shapran, paid a working visit to Uman. Together with employees of the Uman Department, the institution coordinated further steps to prevent and identify violators of migration legislation.

The beginning of the new year according to the Jewish calendar will be celebrated from 6 to 8 September, but according to available information, about 5 thousand Hasidim have already arrived in Uman.

Ivan Shapran noted that migration and security are interrelated, so a violation of migration rules will be followed by administrative responsibility. Israeli citizens can enjoy a visa-free travel regime while staying on the territory of Ukraine for up to 90 days within 180 days.

This year, pilgrims go to Ukraine in advance, because last year, due to enhanced anti-epidemic measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, not everyone was able to get to the Rosh Hashanah celebration in Uman.
