The Pontifical Foundation will help purchase PPE for the clergy and support the monastic communities of the Diocese of Kamianets-Podilsky.

Three initiatives to support the Church in Ukraine during the public health emergency caused by the spread of coronavirus infection were approved by the Pontifical Fund "Aid to the Church in Need". The total amount of funding for the three projects is EUR 165.400. This is reported by the Catholic Observer.

As noted in a communique distributed by the organization, the first project is to provide personal protective equipment to prevent infection to 2,740 Greek Catholic priests and thousands of monks. The second project provides similar support for more than 730 Latin rite priests and about a hundred seminarians. Also, 24 women's monastic communities of the Diocese of Kamianets-Podilsky of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine will receive separate assistance.

"Since the beginning of the pandemic, all means of protection, starting from masks and gloves and disinfecting solutions, have risen in price ten times, and in some cases even more," Fr Mykola Leskiv, rector of the Roman Catholic parish in Chervonograd in Lviv region told to "Aid to the Church in Need". "I also purchased masks for believers who can't afford it, but our resources are limited."

The recipients of these three projects hope that the delivery of protective materials will take place at least until the end of August.
