Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine Approves of Establishment of New Metropolitanates of UGCC
Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Archbishop Thomas Edward Gullickson approves of the establishment of the new metropolitanates of UGCC. He stated so after the ceremony of enthronement of Archbishop and Metropolitan Ihor (Vozniak) of Lviv, reported the Catholic Observer.
“This structure is very important for the whole of the Catholic Church, especially, for the Eastern Churches, both for the government and encouragement of the faithful, said the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine.
Archbishop Thomas Edward Gullicson noted that the Vatican closely monitors the events in UGCC. In his opinion, the example of the dynamic development of UGCC can be applied to other Catholic Churches.
“The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is the largest of the eastern Churches. As the Most Holy Father and the Vatican watch the development of that Church, they consider ways to develop smaller Eastern Churches, for example, in the Near East or somewhere else,” stated the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine.
