Archpastoral Visit of Metropolitan Volodymyr to Chernihiv Diocese Begins

On April 17, 2010, a two-day archpastoral visit of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) to the Diocese of Chernihiv began, reports orthodoxy.org.ua

The purpose of the visit is to participate in the events dedicated to the 70th birthday anniversary of Metropolitan Sofronii of Kaniv and Cherkasy.

At the border of the Cherkasy region the archpastor was welcomed by the ruling bishop Metropolitan Sofronii, regional governor Serhii Tulub, and the diocesan clergy.

Thereafter the hierarch attended the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel where he blessed its clergy and the parishioners who came to welcome him.
