Bishops of Kyiv-Halych Metropoly of UGCC Hold Meeting to Discuss Church Matters
A meeting of the bishops of the Supreme Archbishopric of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was held on February 24-25, 2011, in Lviv-Briukhovychi. The meeting was attended by all the Ukrainian Greek Catholic bishops acting in the territory of Ukraine and the Apostolic Administrator of the Buchach Eparchy of UGCC. Before the meeting, the bishops participated in a meeting with the Roman Catholic bishops of Ukraine.
According to the Information Department of UGCC, the main subjects of the discussion were connected with the development of the draft Instruction on Regulation of Book Publishing in the Kyiv-Halych Supreme Archbishopric or UGCC and elaboration of the lines and practical recommendations of the catechetical ministry in the Supreme Archbishopric. The participants also spoke about further implementing the project of a general church printed edition of UGCC in Ukraine. The head of the administration of the Patriarchal Curia of UGCC, Bishop Bohdan Dziurakh, presented to the participants the structure of the central bodies of UGCC.
In addition, the participants continued a discussion regarding a seminary for late vocations - that is a seminary for candidates to priesthood from various regions of Ukraine, who had vocation in older age.
The participants heard reports of all the heads of the Church Committees of the Supreme Archbishopric and submitted their recommendations as to their further activity. They also heard reports on the status of the construction of the Patriarchal Cathedral of Christ's Resurrection in Kyiv, on the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity held in Kyiv on January 18-25, 2011, and took into consideration information about the written response from the Ministry of Finance regarding the taxation of donations of the faithful.
A substantial amount of time was spent on discussin organizational questions regarding the Electoral Synod which is to beign on March 21, 2011, and the celebratory enthronement of the new head of the church to be held on March 27.
