08.05.2025, 14:00

On the second day of the conclave, May 8, the cardinals failed to elect the 267th Bishop of Rome.

This was reported by Vatican News.

Black smoke rose from the chimney over the Sistine Chapel at 11:50.

As early as 10 o'clock in the morning, St. Peter's Square began to fill with the faithful. After approximately 10:30, either white or black smoke was expected to appear.

The second ballot of the first full day of the conclave - and the third ballot overall - was inconclusive.
