His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar, former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was awarded a new international prize in the field of social and human sciences and Ukrainian Studies. The International Prize named after Ivan Franko was won by Archbishop Emeritus and former Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Lubomyr (Husar) as the author of scientific monograph “Sheptytsky, Metropolitan of Galicia (1901-1944), a forerunner of ecumenism,” published in Lviv in 2015. The amount of the prize fund is a half and a million UAH. The prize winner was announced on August 5 at the University of Vienna. The International Prize named after Ivan Franko, which in 2015 was established by the grandson of Ivan Franko, Roland Franko, confirms honorary recognition of scientific discoveries, significant achievements and merits of scholars in the social sciences and Ukrainian Studies.
