The episcopal consecration of father Mykola Bychok to the ruling bishop of the diocese of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Melbourne (Australia) will take place on April 26, 2020, at the Main Cathedral of St. George in Lviv. The Divine Liturgy begins at 11: 00.

The Liturgy will be led by the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Primate. The concelebrators were Archbishop Igor Voznyak of Lviv, Metropolitan of Lviv of the UGCC, and Bishop Petro Stasiuk, eparch of the Eparchy of Saints Peter and Paul in Melbourne.

The rite of bishop nomination will be held on April 25, 2020, at 18.00 in the Church of the Holy Hieromartyr Josaphat (Lviv, Zamarstynovskaya, 134a). This is reported by the UGCC Information Department.

Mykola Bychek, CSsR, who is currently a parish employee at the parish of St. John the Baptist in Newark, USA. At the same time, it was reported that the Holy Father had accepted an abdication from the pastoral government submitted by Bishop Peter Stasyuk, the witty Bishop of this Diocese.

Vitae

Nominee Bishop Mykola Bychok was born on February 13, 1980, in Ternopil. In July 1997, he joined the Congregation of the Holy Redeemer, obtained his monastic and theological formation in Ukraine and Poland, and received a diploma in pastoral theology. After taking life vows on August 17, 2003, he was ordained as a priest on May 3, 2005.

Father Mykola performed pastoral service in the Church of the Mother of God of Untiring Help in Prokopyevsk (Russia), was the abbot of the monastery of the Redemptorist fathers and parishes in Ivano-Frankivsk, a provincial economist. Since 2015, he has served in the parish of St. John the Baptist in Newark, USA, of the Philadelphia Archdiocese of the UGCC.
