January 18-25, 2022, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be traditionally held around the world. This year’s main theme of the prayer is: “We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him”, Mt 2: 2

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC, bishops and clergy of the Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant Churches will pray together during the Prayer. The prayer will be broadcast by Zhyve.TV, thus anyone can join it.

The topic was proposed by Christians of the Council of Churches of the Middle East, which includes the ancient Churches of various rites and denominations from Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. For the local ecumenical group the processing of materials was a special challenge, as the work took place in a region where human rights and dignity are often affected by unjust political interests and economic poverty.

“The theme of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a great example for us, modern Christians because despite the different cultures and traditions of the sages who came to worship a newborn Baby Jesus, the Lord, they were driven by the same desire to see, know and unite around their God”, summed up Fr. Ihor Shaban, the head of the UGCC Commission for Interfaith and Interreligious Relations.
