Exhibition on Repression Against Church Opened in Kyiv Cave Reserve
The exhibition “Year 1937: Golgotha of the Church: On the 75th anniversary of the Great Terror” opened on November 23 in the National Kyiv Cave Historic-Cultural Reserve, reported the web site of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).
The exhibition is organized by the Synod Department “Church and Culture,” Orthodox Culture Museum of UOC-MP and the national Kyiv Cave Historic and Cultural Reserve.
The exposition is centered around a collection of Metropolitan Volodymyr's church artifacts.
In particular, the exhibition is composed of archive materials, personal files of repressed clergymen of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, unique photos of Ukrainian new martyrs, Metropolitan Kostiantyn (Diakov) of Kyiv, Metropolitan Anatolii (Hrysiuk) of Odesa, Archbishop Oleksandr (Petrovskyi) of Poltava, Archbishop Feofan (Bystrov), Onufrii (Hahaliuk), Oleksii Glagoliev and others.
The visitors will be able to get acquainted also with other exhibits from the collections of the Kyiv Cave Reserve and Orthodox Ukraine Museum of UOC-MP.
The head of the Church and Culture Department, Hegumeness Serafima (Shevchyk), with the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr compiled a book “Fasting from the Devil” about the Holodomor a few years ago.
The hegumenness worked on the book for two years. She studied a large number of archives documents, memoirs of people from all the eparchies of Ukraine.
