Four Religious Leaders in List of Top 100 Most Influential Ukrainians

In its August 23 issue, the Korrespondent magazine named the top 100 most influential people of Ukraine in 2013.

In its August 23 issue, the Korrespondent magazine recognized the top 100 most influential people of Ukraine in 2013.

In preparing the annual Top 100 ranking, journalists of the magazine asked 18 experts in various fields to choose candidates who, in their view, should appear in the list of most influential people in the country.

In making its selection, the journalists took into account the popularity of the figures and their level of influence on the life of the country, the size of controlled companies and lobbying opportunities for businessmen, and the size of mass followers for celebrities and athletes.

Four religious leaders are included in the list of the 100 most influential Ukrainians:

Metropolitan Volodymyr (Slobodan) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-MP – 15

Cardinal Lubomyr (Husar), former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church – 31

Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-KP – 49

Archbishop Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church – 82

Compared to last year, Metropolitan Volodymyr (Slobodan)’s rating increased by 8 points and Cardinal Lubomyr (Husar)’s by 23 points. The head of the UGCC Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk’s rating decreased by 20 points. Patriarch Filaret’s rating remains stable.
