Artemiy Dymyd, a graduate of the Ukrainian Catholic University, has been posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd-grade.

This was reported by the press service of UCU.

The decree numbered 305/2023, "On the awarding of state awards of Ukraine," signed by the President of Ukraine, states, "For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for faithfulness to the military oath, I decree to posthumously award the Order of Courage, 3rd-grade order, to Senior Seaman DYMID Artemiy-Yulian Mykhailovych.".

Artemiy Dymyd was killed on June 18, 2022, while defending Ukraine against Russian occupiers. He was hit by mortar fire in the Mykolaiv-Kherson direction. The hero was only 27 years old.

Artemiy is the son of Father Mykhailo Dymyd, the first rector of the Lviv Theological Academy (now UCU), chaplain of Maidan, lecturer at UCU, and Ivanka Krypyakevych-Dymyd, a renowned iconographer. He is the great-grandson of historian Ivan Krypyakevych and priest and violinist Artemiy Tsegelsky, who spent seven years in exile in Siberia.

He was a graduate of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Faculty of Humanities, historical program.

At the initiative of the fallen warrior Artemiy Dymyd's family, the Ukrainian Catholic University has established the Hero's Scholarship Fund.
