Head of UGCC Lays Capsule for Construction of Campus of Ukrainian Catholic University

On 5 September, in Lviv, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in concelebration with thirty two bishops from Ukraine, Western Europe, America and Australia and the clergy laid a capsule in the foundation of the future hostel of the university campus of the Ukrainian Catholic University, a unique project for Ukraine.

On September 5, in Lviv, Patriarch Lubomyr, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in concelebration with thirty two bishops from Ukraine, Western Europe, America and Australia and the clergy laid a capsule in the foundation of the future residence building of the university campus of the Ukrainian Catholic University, a unique project for Ukraine. The campus will also include a church, academic buildings, library, information center, museum, and hotel. The construction is to be completed in 2020.

The head of UGCC stressed that the Ukrainian Catholic University is something more than an academic institution. "It is a community of people, students, teachers, employees, who seek their future in combining modern scholarly achievements and profound experience of the faith of the martyrs. For with the help of the experience of the martyrdom, we can have a deeper insight in the sense of our existence."

"Our university opens the eyes to the truth of life not only by means of the positive science. It is a community of witnesses, who meet the needs of the present time and stress the value and dignity of a person. Your activity is a very important factor in the development of  anew and better future," noted Patriarch Lubomyr.

The mayor of Lviv, Andrii Sadovyi, called the university campus of UCU "a town of tomorrow, which is being built on the foundation of faith and science."
