On November 13, 2015, Patriarch Filaretof Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine met in the Kyiv Patriarchate Synodal Hall with ColonelMykolaShvets, commander of the 101st Independent Brigade ofHQ Security of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,and conferred on himthe high church award - the Order of St Michael the Archangel.

Presenting the Order, Patriarch Filaret said that the Church would always be with the Armed Forces of Ukraine which defend our state and independence,therefore the church always would help the Army.
The Primate also emphasized that “at war it is the spirit that wins, not weapons, and the spirit in our military servicemen and our nation is strong.”
The commander of the 101st Brigade separate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel MykolaShvetsconferred on Patriarch Filaretof Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine on behalf of Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, Army General Viktor Muzhenkothe honorary medal “For Service to the Armed Forces of Ukraine” and a memorable sample of modern Ukrainian military uniform with insignia of a chaplain - military priest.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Synodal DepartmentforMilitary Clergy Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy and Chyhyryn and military priest KostyantynLozynskyi. It is reported by the press service of the UOC-KP.
