King of Sweden visits Lviv church damaged by Russian attack

18 April, 19:03

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden visited St. Andrew’s Church in Lviv on April 17. This church is part of the former Bernardine Monastery complex. It suffered damage due to Russian aggression in late March 2026. During his visit, the distinguished guests were greeted with a musical surprise performed by the “Dudaryk” ensemble.

As reported, the Lviv National Academic Male Choir “Dudaryk” welcomed the king and his delegation with the traditional Swedish Easter hymn “Jesus Kristus är uppstånden” and the first movement of Dmytro Bortniansky’s Choral Concerto No. 3.

As can be seen in the BBC News Ukrainian video, His Majesty was enchanted by the church's beauty and the choir's singing.
