Kirill takes all Crimean dioceses of UOC MP in his direct subordination

A new Metropolia - the Metropolia of Crimea is created in the territory of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

This decision was made by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church at a meeting on June 7, 2022, in St Daniel Monastery in Moscow.

After hearing the reports of Metropolitan Plato of Feodosia and Kerch, Metropolitan Lazarus of Simferopol and Crimea, Bishop Alexy of Dzhankoy and Razdolnensky regarding the status of the dioceses entrusted to them, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church decided:

1. In response to the appeal of His Grace Metropolitan Platon of Feodosia and Kerch, Metropolitan Lazarus of Simferopol and Crimea, Bishop Alexy of Dzhankoy and Rozdilne, based on the need to maintain an effective canonical and administrative connection with the central ecclesiastical authority for the successful course of church life in the dioceses cared for by these hierarchs, given the practical impossibility of regular communication of these dioceses with the Kyiv Metropolia,

- accept the Dzhankoy, Simferopol and Feodosia dioceses into direct canonical and administrative subordination to the Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

2. Create the Crimean Metropolia on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, consisting of the Dioceses of Dzhankoy, Simferopol and Feodosia.

3. Appoint his Eminence Metropolitan Lazarus of Simferopol and Crimea as the head of the Crimean Metropolia.
