On July 3, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill, consecrated the Church of Cyril and Methodius in Kaliningrad (Russia).

This is reported by Espresso.

At the same time, Kirill addressed the sailors of the Russian Baltic Fleet who were present in the church. Kirill's appeal was broadcast by the Russian Orthodox Channel Soyuz.

The head of the Moscow Patriarchate assured his audience that Russia has nothing to be ashamed of.

"Today we really need God to be with us. And here, on the western border of Russia, this is especially noticeable. Many are rebelling today, including in our fatherland. But we know that the fatherland has not done anything wrong to anyone. And they oppose us not because we are bad, but because we are different. And it is this otherness of Russia that excites feelings of jealousy, envy and indignation. But we can't change ourselves," Kirill said.

At the same time, he did not specify what exactly the Russian "otherness" is like, limiting himself to the statement that Russia is "Holy Russia, the lot of the Most Holy Theotokos."

As for Kaliningrad, according to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, it needs protection "from any enemy and foe."
