Russian President Volodymyr Putin provided support to the Kyiv Cave Monastery, the Superior of the Kyiv Cave Monastery Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl of UOC-MP said in an interview to Weekly.ua.

“He allocated a large amount for the work on the renewal of the Cathedral of Assumption. Without the money we would not have been able to revive the shrine,” said the metropolitan.

“Now we will also ask Putin to help as our people do not tend to support the monastery,” he added.

“We pray and will pray for Volodymyr Volodymyrovych [editor: Putin’s patronymic] and all the other sponsors who helped the monastery at various times,” noted the superior.

Last December, the Kyiv Cave Monastery concluded an agreement with Uyutnyi Dom [Cosy House] Ltd on slide prevention, emergency, repair works and restoration of monuments to the amount of 29.5 million US dollars, reported Tyzhden.
