Patriarch Filaret, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP), and Victor Yushchenko, leader of the political bloc “Our Ukraine,” are expected to participate in the festivities dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which will take place in the north-western Ukrainian Rivne region from 13 to 14 October 2002.

Vasyl Chervonii, head of the regional branch of the Ukrainian National Movement (“Rukh”) in Rivne, who is also head of the organizing committee, reported that the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God (UOC-KP) will be consecrated in the town of Berezna on 13 October 2002. In addition, a monument to the soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army will be erected in the Hutvyn area (Kostopolskyi district, Rivne region), where the army’s first headquarters was based. On 14 October 2002, a monument to Klym Savur (pseudonym of Dmytro Kliachkovskyi), a general of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, will be erected near the walls of the former prison of the Soviet People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs.
