The head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, has no intention to retire like Major Archbishop Emeritus Lubomyr Husar did.

The head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, has no intention to retire like Major Archbishop Emeritus Lubomyr Husar did. However, if the church asks him to step down, he will agree with such a decision, he said in an interview to Weekly.ua.

“First of all, I did not propose myself, did not elect myself, it was done by the Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. I cannot willfully give up my obedience to the Holy Church. I will step down if there is such a decision,” stated Metropolitan Volodymyr.

“I know what is happening in the church now. Praise God for everything! God will balance everything. Of course, I cannot handle church matters fully as I undergo treatment. But it does not mean that I am outside church life,” said the hierarch.
