Militants use churches as a cover for snipers

26.12.2014, 13:21

Militants continue to use the building of churches and monasteries as a cover. The press officer of the General Staff of Ukraine Mazepa was reported as saying this by ICTV.

"Leadership of the Donetsk People’s Republic, despite claims that their actions are aimed at establishing peace and preservation of national heritage show contempt for the Christian world, using the church building as a cover for snipers," he said.

Thus, according to Mazepa in the territory of the Holy Iveron Icon Monastery in Pisky the sniping positions have been deployed in the bell tower.

In addition, the Antiterrorist center has repeatedly said that militants fired at the ATO position in the area of Donetsk airport from the monastery.
