The Permanent Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is a group of bishops that acts on behalf of the Synod of bishops and is an advisory body for the head of the UGCC. The Permanent Synod consists of the patriarch of the UGCC, who heads it, and four bishops appointed for five years. One of these bishops is nominated by the head of the UGCC, and the other three, among whom at least two must be diocesan bishops, are elected by secret ballot by the Synod of Bishops. At the same time, four other deputy bishops are appointed to replace the members of the Permanent Synod if they are unable to attend the meeting.

The Permanent Synod is guided in its activities by the norms of the general and particular laws of the UGCC, the Charter of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC and the Charter of the Permanent Synod of the UGCC.
