The First Lady of Ukraine, together with the President of Ukraine, embarked on a working visit to Sweden, the Netherlands, and Denmark over the weekend. On Sunday, she participated in a church service at the Danish Gardeslev Cathedral alongside Crown Princess Mary.
This was reported by NV.
On Sunday, August 20, a special church service took place at the Gardeslev Cathedral in Denmark to commemorate six-year-old Sofiika, who was killed by a Russian rocket in Chernihiv on Saturday, August 19, and hundreds of other Ukrainian children who lost their lives due to Russian aggression.
Crown Princess Mary of Denmark also attended the church service, along with Ukrainian displaced persons under the care of Denmark and the Crown Princess. The Crown Princess is known for her charitable projects and active civic engagement.
"We are grateful to her and all of Denmark for this gesture, the opportunity to be here, and for the daily support and assistance to Ukraine and Ukrainians. Denmark not only provides assistance in defense, but also participates in the restoration of schools, hospitals, bomb shelters, water, heat, and energy supply. It supports the Ukrainian economy and the most affected regions, and on a diplomatic level, fights against Russia's abduction of Ukrainian children," wrote Olena Zelenska on her social media.
The First Lady also shared that after the church service, she met with Ukrainian and Danish volunteers from Gardeslev who have been collecting assistance for Ukraine and taking care of displaced persons for a year and a half. They provide help in finding housing, translation, and adaptation after the trials of war.
On Saturday, Olena Zelenska, together with Volodymyr Zelensky, met with King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in Sweden. The royal couple received them at the Stenhammar Palace.
