On February 20, Heavenly Hundred Heroes to be remembered in Ukrainian Churches
On the second anniversary of the tragic events on Maidan, the clergymen of different churches will prayerfully remember the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Solemn memorial events will be held throughout Ukraine. The biggest events will be held in the capital, particularly near those places where two years ago innocent victims were killed by security forces. It is expected that the memorial events will be attended by witnesses of those events, the relatives and friends of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
According to the Department of UGCC in Kyiv, on February 20-21, Greek Catholics intend to hold the All-Night vigil service “Blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church” in the ecumenical church of the UGCC located on Instytutska street. Organizer of common prayer is the Kyiv Seminary. The program of the meeting will consist of two parts. It is planned that at 10:00 AM the clergy will celebrate the Divine Liturgy, an hour later a memorial service will be held near the Cross.
At 18:00, the sacred procession will follow from Maidan to the church, at 19:00 the Vesper Service will be held followed by rosary at 20:00. The program of commemoration will continue all night and end at 4:45 with the Divine Liturgy.
On Saturday at 10:30, the Kyiv Patriarchate planned to hold a memorial service for the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred at St. Michael Cathedral. The prayer will be led by Patriarch Filaret. The families of the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the Revolution of dignity participants will also pray there. Patriarch Filaret will say a sermon to audience.
At 12:00, the Requiem concert dedicated to Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred will be held in the hall of Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy in the territory of St. Michael's Monastery in the framework of the Congress of Orthodox Youth.
