The Orthodox Pedagogical Society and the Department for Charity and Social Service at the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) have announced a competition for the best literary or journalistic work covering the social service of a parish. This news was reported on 12 December 2002 by the press service of the UOC-MP.
Essays and reports are invited on a variety of subjects, including voluntary community service in hospitals, orphanages, homes for the sick and homeless, prisons, military units, and so on. The organizers and “The Spirit and Letter” publishing house at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy are also planning to publish a book of the best works, entitled “Blessed Are the Merciful.” Source: www.orthodox.org.ua
