Patriarch and Hierarchs of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church not to attend the meeting in Amman
The Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Neophytos, will not participate in the meeting in Amman, which was initiated by the ROC. In addition, it will probably not send an official delegation from the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
This is reported by the Information Resistance with reference to "Doxologiainfonews.com".
According to the report, Russian-speaking Bulgarian metropolitans tried to persuade Patriarch Neophytos to take part in the meeting in Jordan, but he refused to.
According to the media outlet citing its own sources, five metropolitans of the Church of Bulgaria (Metropolitans Gavriil of Lovech, Daniel of Vidin, Ioan of Varna, Seraphim of Nevrokop, Gregory of Vrachany), at the request of Moscow, tried to exert pressure on the Patriarch Neophyte to make him go to Amman. It all started late at night on February 17.
Metropolitan Daniel of Vidin visited Belgrade (Serbia) again without the permission of the Patriarch and the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Church. There he received instructions from Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), who was also in Belgrade. Alfeyev urged the Bulgarian bishops to exert pressure on the Bulgarian Church and the Serbian Church.
Since it was no longer easy for Metropolitan Hilarion to Bulgaria, Metropolitan Daniel met him in the Serbian capital, Belgrade (he thought he would not be noticed). Metropolitan Daniel is again acting against the Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Holy Synod.
Earlier, it was also reported that the Georgian Church would not participate in the pan-Orthodox meeting of the ROC.
