Patriarch Filaret presented 75 charity backpacks to ATO fighters’ children
On August 30, 2016, at St. Volodymyr Patriarchal Cathedral Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine presented 75 charity backpaks to first-graders. Among them are children of the deceased soldiers, displaced children, children from poor families, children with disabilities and children of parents who are serving in the ATO zone.
According to the press service of the Kyiv Patriarchate, the Primate of the Kyivan Patriarchate blessed every child for study and said an archpastoral word:
“Dear children! First of all, we are congratulating you on the beginning of the new academic year. We continue this action “Backpack of Kindness,” which we launched a few days ago. Today we have gathered to give you these bags and thus demonstrate that Ukraine has not abandoned you. You are the future of the large Ukrainian state. So take these backpaks as a demonstration of our love for you. And may the Lord inspire love in the hearts of children through these gifts that the Church gives you today.”
The All-Ukrainian campaign “Backpack of Kindness” was launched by the patriarch on 12 August. It will last until September 15, 2016. To date, 496 backpacks have been collected.
