Patriarch Kirill expresses condolences over Khamenei's death

02 March, 14:10

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow expressed his "deep condolences" to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of the Islamic Republic.

This was reported by Christians Against War.

"The deceased was a man of deep religious convictions and served as both a spiritual and national leader, demonstrating strong spirit and character. I urge you to extend words of support to his family and loved ones.

May the Merciful God grant them, as well as all the Iranian people, the strength and fortitude to endure the pain of their loss," said the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

It is worth noting that Mufti Ravil Gainutdin, the head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, expressed his condolences for the loss of children and civilians in Iran, rather than specifically addressing the passing of Khamenei. In contrast, the Moscow Patriarch did not acknowledge the deaths of civilians.
