Patriarch of the UGCC: We should not risk the so-called Chamberlain's peace
This was stated by the Head of the UGCC, Patriarch Sviatoslav, in his video message, the Information Department of the UGCC reports.
As the Primate noted, the last week, like the previous one, will probably go down in history as the week with the highest number of daily losses of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, with more than a thousand Russian soldiers killed every day.
He stressed that this week our prayers and attention will be focused on an important event in Switzerland - the Global Peace Summit.
"Today, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, I appeal to all the nations and states of the world: be sure to take part in this global event! We urge everyone to come and seek ways to prevent the Third World War. The war in Ukraine is not a Ukrainian problem alone, for it could affect the whole world. Therefore, we must stop the Russian aggressor together," said the Head of the UGCC.
According to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, when looking for principles for a peace formula in Switzerland, we must be aware of the need to observe several important principles: "First of all, I ask all statesmen, politicians and diplomats not to put the aggressor and the victim on the same level. Another important thing is that the principle of international law must be established. Let us not risk the so-called Chamberlain's peace, which was aimed at pacifying the aggressor, ignoring the principles of international law!" said the Head of the Church.
The head of the UGCC called on Christians around the world, regardless of denomination and place of service to God and people, to pray together for peace in Ukraine, Europe and the world!
