The fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, commented on the conflict in the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. It was reported by Еspreso.tv, which cited Glavcom.

"Definitely, I'm not going to discuss Filaret. But the entire Ukraine was thanking him for his willingness to make sacrifice. And now he is losing every chance of being so considered. I do not see any threat for the Ukrainian Church. On the contrary, it is a test that will make the Ukrainian Church even stronger... It's like a child who runs out in winter naked in the cold, to do exercises, it is just a cold-weather exercise," said Poroshenko.

Poroshenko has added that current developments show that the Church does not depend on the will of one person.

As reported, Filaret is planning to hold a meeting called "Local Council of the UOC-KP" in St Volodymyr Cathedral of Kyiv on June 20 to review the decision of the Local Council of the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate of December 15, 2018, which opened a way to the unification of the divided Ukrainian Orthodox into the one Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which resulted in the issuance of the Tomos of autocephaly and the recognition by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

The OCU has already stated that in the event that the "Local Council of the UOC-KP" takes place, appropriate canonical and legal sanctions will be imposed on all its participants.
