The Synod of the Polish Orthodox Church has ruled that “it will not enter into communion with the new Church that Constantinople is set to create in Ukraine.” In particular, the Council of Bishops of the Polish Church, as announced in the official communiqué issued on November 16 this year, prohibited the “faithful of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church from establishing the liturgical and worship contacts with the clergymen of the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
In the communiqué, the Council of Bishops of the Polish Orthodox Church has called on all Local Orthodox Churches to assemble in order to reach a joint decision on the Ukrainian church issue “in the spirit of gospel og love, humility, understanding and mutual respect, adhering to the ecclesial-dogmatic canons.”
“Only compliance with the dogmatic and canonical regulations of the Church and the preservation of centuries-old traditions will protect Orthodoxy from complicated ecclesial consequences on an international scale,” the document states.
As reported, the Serbian Church, which had previously declared itself to be a consistent ally of the Russian Orthodox Church - Russian World, on November 6-8, at the Bishops' Council, refused to recognize the decision of Constantinople to renew the leaders of the UOC-KP and UAOC Filaret (Denisenko), Makariy (Maletych ) and their clergy in their ranks.
