The nomination of Mustafa Dzhemilev was initiated by Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of the Polish Sejm Malgorzata Gosiewska.
In addition, British nature researcher David Attenborough, who, Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovska, Tuvaluan Foreign Minister Simon Kofe and Pope Francis were nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.
Mustafa Dzhemilev has already been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, 2011 and 2015.
