Pope Francis: I do not forget about Ukraine so that its people attain peace
Pope Francis does not forget about Ukraine, trying by way of a humanitarian action to heal its wounds caused by the armed conflict. He spoke about this during the Assembly of the Reunion of Aid Agencies for the Oriental Churches, Vatican news reports.
On June 10, 2019, receiving the participants of the 92nd plenary assembly of the Reunion of Aid Agencies for the Oriental Churches (ROACO), Pope Francis, among other things, said: "And I always remember Ukraine, so that peace could be attained by its people whose wounds caused by the conflict I tried to ease with the charitable initiative which was promoted by many church organizations."
As reported earlier, in the course of two years a special humanitarian initiative Pope for Ukraine was implemented in Ukraine, aimed to help persons affected by military operations in the east of the country and IDPs. The Pontiff allocated 16 million euros to this initiative, the result of donations collected in all Catholic churches in Europe and a donation from his own funds.
