Pope Francis has not yet responded to President Zelensky's invitation to visit Ukraine on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Independence.

This was stated by Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy Yaroslav Melnyk during the panel discussion "new partnership in times of pandemic", organized by the Foreign Policy Council "Ukrainian Prism", Ukrinform reports.

The diplomat noted that the Embassy of Ukraine to the Holy See is responsible for organizing the visit of the head of the Vatican.

"The question of the visit of the Pope (of Rome -Ed.) to Ukraine was violated during the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to the Vatican. They are considering this issue and thank you for the invitation. I think the answer will be soon. No decision has been made yet," Melnyk said.

As reported, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, during a visit to the Vatican on March 25, conveyed to Pope Francis the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky to pay a visit to Ukraine on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Independence.
